A sweatshirt should keep you warm without the bulk and stay soft wash after wash. Go 280 g/m² for spring and autumn, 350 g/m² with a brushed fleece interior for winter, or 350 g/m² in 100% organic cotton with no polyester at all. Herringbone tape at the back neck keeps the collar from stretching out.
