I started this in Spain in 2020. I wanted to make clothes that last — not for a season, but for years.
What I kept running into was the same thing: a shirt that looks right in the shop and loses its shape after five washes. So I started at the fabric. Not with a design, not with a name. With the cotton.
People think the hare is a coward. It isn't. It is vigilant.
It notices everything, moves before it has to, and survives being hunted by nearly everything — not by fighting, but by paying attention and by building something of its own to come back to.
That is why it is on every piece. I chose it for the intelligence, and for the fact that it is still here.
Fabric weight is measured in grams per square metre. A standard high-street t-shirt sits between 140 and 180 g/m². Ours is 237.
The difference shows after twenty washes. Lighter jersey stretches at the shoulders and thins at the hem. Denser fabric holds its shape because there is more cotton per centimetre holding it.
We use combed ring-spun cotton — the short fibres under 15 millimetres are removed before spinning, which makes the yarn smoother and stops the surface pilling. Some pieces are GOTS certified organic. Hoodies and sweatshirts run between 280 and 350 g/m².
In practice: hold a t-shirt up to a window. If you can read your hand through it, it is under 180.
Everything is produced under our own label, made to order in Spain. We release a maximum of fifty pieces a year.
Nothing is made in advance, so nothing goes unsold and nothing gets discounted into a warehouse. It means you wait a few days longer. It also means what you receive was made for you, not for a forecast.
I am not where I want to be yet.
I want Grozavu to be known outside Spain — and known for the fabric, not for the logo. People buying a name is easy. People buying something because it actually holds up is the harder thing, and it is the one I care about.
The next step is physical stores, in cities our customers choose. That is a long way off. But five years in, we are still moving.
